Pilates Studio Setup: Equipment, Layout and Supply

Opening a Pilates studio is mostly a logistics problem. You need machines that hold up to daily classes, a layout that keeps instructors moving and clients safe, and one supplier who can deliver a complete room on schedule. Megacore has supplied studio equipment since 2003 from our factory in Jiangmen, Guangdong, working with single-studio owners and multi-site operators. This page explains how to size a reformer order to your floor plan, which models suit class-style work, and how a studio project moves from first enquiry to machines running in the room.

What New Studio Owners Usually Get Wrong

Most first-time buyers order by price per machine, then discover the harder costs later: mismatched accessories, spare-part delays, or reformers that were never built for back-to-back classes.

The fix is to plan the room first, then pick equipment that matches the class formats you actually teach. A studio running eight daily classes needs different machines from one running three.

  • Buying machines before finalising the floor plan and class formats
  • Mixing models from several suppliers, which splits spare parts and warranty cover
  • Forgetting towers, boxes, jump boards and mats that complete a class setup
  • Underestimating storage and cleaning time between sessions

Matching Reformers to Your Floor Plan

Start from how many clients you teach per class and how many classes you run per day, not from the room size alone. That gives a realistic reformer count and a model mix that fits the workload.

The table below is a starting point we refine with your actual measurements and schedule before quoting.

Studio scaleReformersRecommended mix
Single room, small classes (up to about 6 clients)2-4K11 or K16, one tower
Small commercial studio4-8K16 + K20 mix, jump boards
Established studio, several classes per day8-14K20 + C26 fleet, tower per room

How a Megacore Studio Order Runs

Every project follows the same route, and you see each stage before the next one starts. Lead times are confirmed in writing at quotation because they depend on model, finish and order size.

Production lead time.

  • Enquiry: share your floor plan, class formats and target client numbers
  • Selection: we shortlist models, finishes and an accessory set as a written configuration
  • Sample: request a sample unit or test machines at the Guangzhou showroom
  • Production: the confirmed order moves to the factory schedule once the deposit is received
  • Inspection: in-process checks plus pre-shipment inspection of every unit
  • Shipping: FOB, CIF or DDP depending on your destination
  • Installation: delivery guidance, assembly documents and spare-part support

Equipment Beyond the Reformers

A working studio is more than a row of machines. Towers, boxes, jump boards, wall units, mats and small props all shape what you can teach and how quickly a room turns over.

We quote these as part of the same configuration so everything arrives matched and covered by one warranty.

  • Towers and half-towers for reformer-plus-tower programming
  • Sitting boxes and jump boards for varied class formats
  • Mats, rings, blocks and bands for warm-ups and accessories work
  • Spare springs, upholstery and hardware for ongoing maintenance

Why a Package Beats Piecemeal Sourcing

When reformer, tower, box and props come from different suppliers, small differences add up: fittings that almost match, colours that nearly agree, and delays when one item lags behind the rest.

A single package keeps everything on one specification, one inspection and one shipment, which is simpler to plan and easier to maintain afterwards.

  • Components matched to the same reformer line and finish
  • One inspection covering the whole order before it ships
  • One shipping schedule instead of several staggered deliveries
  • One parts source for springs, upholstery and hardware

Choosing a Package Tier

Packages scale with your room and programming. The table below shows what each tier generally includes and who it suits.

Final contents are agreed in a written configuration before quoting.

Package tierIncludedSuits
Starter2-4 reformers, mats, basic propsNew or private studios
Core4-8 reformers, towers, boxes, jump boards, prop setSmall commercial studios
Full studio8-14 reformers, towers, full prop and storage setEstablished studios
Multi-roomFull fleet across rooms, wall units, spare partsChains and larger builds

Matched Components, One Inspection

Every item in the package is drawn from the same production line, so fittings, finishes and hardware stay consistent across the room.

Because the whole order is inspected together, you receive one quality inspection certificate covering the shipment rather than a stack of separate documents.

  • Reformers, towers, boxes and jump boards matched to one line
  • Consistent frame finish and upholstery across the order
  • Prop and storage items chosen to fit the machines
  • One inspection certificate, with third-party inspection welcome

How a Package Order Runs

Packages follow the same route as any project, with the specification agreed before production starts so nothing is added late.

Lead time depends on tier and options and is confirmed in writing at quotation.

  • Enquiry: share your room plan, programming and target date
  • Selection: agree the tier and every included item in writing
  • Sample: review units at the Guangzhou showroom or request a sample
  • Production: the full package builds to the agreed specification
  • Inspection: pre-shipment inspection across the whole order
  • Shipping: FOB, CIF or DDP to your location
  • Installation: setup guidance and spare-part support after delivery

Често задавани въпроси

How many reformers should a new studio start with?

It depends on your class sizes and schedule. Most new studios open with four to eight reformers so they can run full classes without overcommitting floor space. Send us your room dimensions and how many clients you plan per class, and we will recommend a count and model mix you can grow into.

Can Megacore help plan the room layout?

Yes. Send a sketch, measurements or photos of the space along with your class formats. We suggest reformer placement, access room for instructors and where towers or storage should sit. Layout guidance is part of the proposal, not a separate service.

What is the minimum order for a studio package?

Studio packages are built per project, so the count depends on your rooms and formats. As a general guide, small setups start from a handful of reformers plus the supporting equipment. Tell us your plan and we will confirm the practical minimum for your configuration.

Do you provide installation support?

We supply assembly documentation and can walk your team through setup, and the machines ship largely pre-assembled where possible. For larger builds we can discuss on-site guidance. Spare parts and technical help remain available throughout the three-year warranty on frame and parts.
